The Countdown to NaNoWriMo 2017 Continues…

Will this be the year you write that first draft?  You’ll read that a lot in the coming days as writers the world over are gearing up to meet this year’s NaNoWriMo challenge.  What’s that you say? You’ve never heard of NaNo?

Well, Nowata Press to the rescue.

From their site,

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.

On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.

So, if you’ve been harboring a secret desire to write a novel, here’s your chance to join a world-wide community of word smiths as they power through thirty days of noveling frenzy.

I see the doubt in your eyes.  You’re wondering if it really can be done. Well, I’ve successfully drafted 50K or more words for three of my published novels.

NaNo!!! It’s Almost HERE!!!

Unlike Ms. Kara (Boho Berry on YouTube / owner of Boho Berry Paperie on Etsy), we here at Nowata Press aren’t that organized. We are aware that NaNoWriMo is practically right around the corner (22 days, YIKES), but the best we’ve come up with is that we will be participating.

At this point, we have no idea which one of the million plot bunnies we have hanging about the warren these days – one of which hopped up a couple of days ago with all the energy of a cartoon squirrel after drinking a can of Jolt cola – that we’ll be attempting to finish but I’m sure, much like we’ve done in years past, it’ll be November 3rd or so when we finally get it together and start putting words to page.

We’d like to maybe host a write-in or a fund raiser – we’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, drop us a line, let us know if you’re going to participate this year and if you’re working your #Preptober magic.

We’ll be sitting here looking over the warren hoping one of these bunnies manages to sit still long enough to hold our attention.

Grand Opening (for real this time :-) )

July 18, 2017

A long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far away…

Ha, yeah. There’s no comparing this journey I’ve been on to the epic trials and tribulations Luke had to endure on his way to Jedi-hood.  But it’s close ;-).  What am I talking about, you ask?  I’m talking about the day I held my newborn daughter in my arms for the first time, and then, on that same date a few years later…

I held my first ever, self-published book in my hands. While it’s not  a major Hollywood block buster, the story of how I’d finally decided it was well past time to turn my dream of being a published author into a reality is fraught with ups, downs, and dramatic turns. I’ll spare you the sorted details and skip right to the good part.

On July 18, 2008,  I found myself standing in the reception area of the book manufacturers’ offices, holding my book, Satin Sheet Memoirs, Vol. 1 in my hands. The feelings of becoming a mother to a tiny human were much the same as I had the day I became a Self-Published Author. I was ECSTATIC!

Because that date holds such good feelings for me, and definitely represents some major milestones in my journey so far, it seems only fitting that I choose July 18th as the day I launch the next great phase of my life –

Nowata Press Publishing and Consulting, LLC.
